The SIGABIS Best Paper Award

In order to advance research on agent-based IS and to better fulfill its mission SIGABIS announces the annual "SIGABIS Best Paper Award" competition.

SIGABIS honors the author(s) of a paper of exceptional merit dealing with a subject related to the SIG's focus on agent-based information systems (see www.agentbasedis.org). SIGABIS considers only submissions to SIGABIS sponsored events.

Submissions are reviewed by a "SIGABIS Best Paper Award Committee." It is composed of two SIG officers and two other reviewers, who can be organizers of the SIGABIS sponsored event. The reviewers for each paper are carefully chosen to avoid conflict of interest. The review is blind and every paper is scored. Scoring is formalized. The paper with the highest score is declared the winner of the competition.

We tentatively plan to organize the first competition for 2003/04. For questions about the "SIGABIS Best Paper Award," please contact the SIG co-chairs.

(Aforementioned procedures are based on a review of similar awards, which includes the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) Outstanding Paper Award, the Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval of the Association for Computing Machinery (SIGIR) Best Paper Award, and the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award.)
